39 Weeks - Here She Comes!

Wow, I can't believe we are nearing the end of my pregnancy. We will have a baby girl in a week or less and will officially become proud members of the parenting club!  We've decided to schedule a c-section on my due date of July 7 because of her size (I have gestational diabetes which makes a large baby), so we will be meeting our little girl very very soon.  Carrying our baby has been the most joyous time in my life, but I know its about to get even more joyous upon her arrival!

Ryan and I had portraits taken this past Saturday to remember this precious time in our lives. Thank you to Eva, from Eva-Marie Photography who took the lovely photos! Here's a sampling:

5 Years Married & 36 Weeks Along

Hi all - I'm 36 weeks along and our little girl has definitely dropped.  I'm full term next week at 37 weeks and I can't believe it! My pregnancy (minus the terrible first trimester) has gone by very quickly and I have cherished every moment. We can not wait to meet her!

Ryan and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary this past weekend. We have now been married as long as we dated :) We went to the beautiful Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island, and then to a lovely dinner at Waterfront Grill overlooking the Puget Sound. Our friends Eric & Amy surprised us with dinner on them at the restaurant, complete with rose petals on the table. They are so generous and kind and we thank them very much!

Ryan had a surprise up his sleeve as well.  When we got married, Ryan wanted to buy the wedding band that matched my engagement ring. It was incredibly beautiful with diamonds around the band, but also expensive.  We were 22 and 23 years old and didn't have a dime to our name as he was about to start medical school and I had just finished college and was looking for a job.  So I refused the fancy band and we bought a $50 plain band instead. I love my tiny, inexpensive wedding band very much, but what woman wouldn't mind a fancy ring? This past weekend on our 5 year wedding anniversary, Ryan gave me the matching wedding band! It's not only a gift for our anniversary, but a gift for carrying our little girl around for the past 36 weeks.

Ring aside, Ryan gives me the greatest gift everyday: being my wonderful husband, and soon to be wonderful father.  I am very blessed!

One Last Trip at 32 Weeks

Ryan and I just returned from 4 days in sunny Coronado Island! Coronado is a quaint and beautiful island across the bay from San Diego. We spent our days laying on the beach, sitting by the pool, biking, and taking long walks along the bay.  It was the perfect vacation for just the two of us before our little girl makes her debut in 8 weeks or less!

28 Weeks - Go, Go, Go!

Mema & Papa
What a month! We just returned from Florida to celebrate the 60th wedding anniversary of Ryan's grandparents, Joan & Cal Morton. My in-laws threw them a beautiful party to commemorate the momentous occasion. It was a lovely night, full of nostalgia and memories that made me realize the magnitude of 60 years of marriage. What an incredible accomplishment - congratulations again Mema & Papa!
Our old garage aka
the new guest room

My mom also visited us this month and we began the grueling process of cleaning out the guest room to turn it into our baby girl's room. Since Ryan was at work, and I can't do much heavy lifting, my mom did the majority of the work! Believe it or not, we decided to turn the garage into our new guest room. I'll let the picture speak for itself...all I can say is my mom is the best!
Ryan, Audrey, & Daddy Chris

Another important event was the baptism of Audrey Milliron, the baby daughter of our close friends Chris & Jenny Milliron. We drove down to Oregon after I returned from Texas for my grandmother's funeral.  I went straight from a funeral to a baptism and was heartened by the juxtaposition of death and life.  Although the funeral was full of grief, meeting sweet baby Audrey, who is so full of life was beautiful. We felt privileged to be there and celebrate with her parents.
Baby Audrey & Me

We also entered the third and final trimester this month. Yes, I'm 28 weeks along now, which seems so incredible! Thanks to God's blessings, the pregnancy continues to go smoothly and most importantly our baby girl is healthy.

28 Weeks
At the end of the month, I head to San Antonio for my Texas baby shower, thrown by my sister and my mom. I'm looking forward to seeing old friends and celebrating with the people who know me best. Finally, Ryan and I head to San Diego in early May for our last trip before the birth. Whew - life is busy, but life is good!

24 Weeks & Counting! Where Does the Time Go?

24 Weeks Along - She's our wiggly girl!
Hi everyone! I'm in my 24th week of pregnancy and feel fantastic! The rumors are true, the second trimester is wonderful.  Thankfully our little girl continues to be very healthy and very wiggly. Ryan and I feel extremely blessed! We have narrowed our list down to 10 names - so hopefully will have a name picked out soon.

It's been a very rainy March in Seattle, but spring is just around the corner! Looking forward to the blooms.
