San Juan Islands - Orcas, Orcas, everywhere!

Ryan and I took a trip to the San Juan Islands this weekend, which are about 2 1/2 hours from Seattle. It was one of the most, if not the most beautiful place we have ever been.

We biked Lopez Island, hiked Orcas Island, and stayed at Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. The most memorable part of the whole trip (besides spending time together) was our whale watching excursion. Even though it was late in the season, we saw about 30 Orcas (Killer Whales), 15 of which swam right up to our boat! We could have easily touched them! The guides told us they had never experienced anything like it in the many years they have been giving whale watching tours. We felt incredibly lucky. The video below captures a small part of that phenomenal moment - enjoy!
